Chiara Sannicandro

The German-Italian violinist Chiara Sannicandro, born in Salzburg, captures the audiences with her expressive, sensitive and sincere playing. Chiara is prizewinner of international competitions, including the international Joseph Joachim Competition 2021, the 27th international Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, the International Hudson Valley String Competition or the Rahn Musikpreis in Zürich.

Most recently her Trio Brontë won 1st prize at the International Chamber Music competition Schubert und die Musik der Moderne in Graz, in the Piano Trio Category.

As a soloist she played with orchestras like NDR Hannover, Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Philharmonie Salzburg, Camerata Bern, and took part in renowned international festivals such as Heidelberger Frühling, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Davos Festival, Lcokenhaus Festival, Classiche Forme and Elba Music Festival. Her chamber music partners included among others Gidon Kremer, Vilde Frang, Antje Weithaas, Yura Lee, Daniel Müller-Schott, Jens Peter Maintz, Enrico Pace.

She received important musical impulses at the Kronberg Academy Festival and Masterclasses as well as the International Music Seminars and Open Chamber Music in Prussia Cove.

At 9 years old Chiara was accepted in the Pre-College program at the Mozarteum Salzburg where she studied with Klara Flieder.

She continued her studies at the Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington with Mauricio Fuks as well as at the Musik Akademie Basel with Rainer Schmidt and persued a chamber music degree with her Piano Trio in the class of Günter Pichler at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid.

Currently she’s in the class of Antje Weithaas at Hanns Eisler Berlin.

She is playing a violin by Matteo Goffriller, Venice 1723, as a loan from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben in Hamburg.
