Both at home in continuo playing on the cembalo, premiering new contemporary works, improvising on fortepiano or playing a recital on a Steinway, his musical horizon never stops from being enlarged by informed practise, new aesthetical experiences and profound communicative skills.
Pau began piano and violin lessons in his native city, where he studied with Ignacio Millán and Rafael Salinas. Later, he worked in Madrid with Nino Kereselidze and Denis Lossev.
In 2016, he moved to Helsinki, where he completed his Bachelor of Music at the Sibelius Academy, in the class of Erik T. Tawaststjerna and Hui-Ying Liu. Later, he pursued further studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, in the class of Claudio Martínez Mehner, Nina Tichman and Andreas Staier. Then, after having completed his Master studies at the FHNW Hochschule für Musik Basel, in the class of Claudio Martínez Mehner and Anton Kernjak, he pursues studies in historical keyboards and improvisation with Edoardo Torbianelli at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
He has given recitals in some of the most renowned halls in Spain and abroad and has been finalist and prizewinner in several national competitions, such as the Van Wassenaer International Competition of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht or the UBS Jeunes Soloistes Prize. He has also participated in several important festivals in Spain and abroad, such as: IMS Prussia Cove, Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Festival Pau Casals (El Vendrell), Trondheim Kammermusikfestival, Ensems (Valencia) or Aino Ackté Kamarimusiikkifestivaal. Likewise, he has collaborated as a chamber musician with players such as Kari Kriikku, Calogero Palermo, Rafal Jezierski, Vicente Huerta or Paco Varoch, among others. He has also played as a soloist in the Schlusskonzerte of FHNW Hochschule für Musik Basel, along with Kammerorchester Basel and has collaborated in orchestral projects with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.
Since 2019, he is co-director of the Festival Ágora - L’Horta Nord, a young music festival focused on chamber and contemporary music in Valencia.
Pau is also very interested in chamber music performance with groups of various kinds, being a member of Aión Dúo, together with clarinetist Claudia Reyes. Likewise, he shows a great interest in contemporary music and, therefore, he has premiered several works by composers such as Eduardo Soutullo, Voro García, José Manuel López-López, Alexander Schubert or David Moliner, among others.
Furthermore, his performances have been broadcasted by some of the most well-known radio stations in Europe: Bayerisches Rundfunk, NPO Klassiek, SRF, Radio Clásica or Catalunya Música
He has also participated in master classes taught by teachers such as Robert Levin, Kirill Gerstein, Leonidas Kavakos, Thomas Adès, Andreas Staier, Steven Isserlis, Tamás Vásáry, Lilya Zilbernstein, Ralf Gothóni, Péter Nágy, Gabriela Montero, among many others.
Currently, Pau teaches chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and leads a piano class at the Zakhar Bron School of Music (Zürich).
