
She has performed with orchestras such as the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Hofkapelle Stuttgart, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Baroque Soloists, the Porto Symphony Orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Anna-Lena Elbert nurtures a particular passion for contemporary music. A close collaboration links the soprano to Konstantia Gourzi, Jan Müller-Wieland and Gordon Kampe. In 2020, she made her début as Lena at the Bavarian State Opera, part of the world première of the children's opera Spring doch! by Gordon Kampe and in August 2022 at the Salzburg Festival in the world première of Kampe's children's opera WUT. With György Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre she made her début under Iván Fischer at the Beethovenfest Bonn, Musikfest Bremen, at the Konzerthaus Berlin and during the BBC Proms.
In 2024, she premièred Mein Fleisch by Gordon Kampe at the Kölner Philharmonie and Philharmonie Essen together with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and Brad Lubman. Also in 2024, she made her début in the role of Zerbinetta in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos at the Festival Dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, at MüPa Budapest and in Vicenza with the Budapest Festival Orchestra conducted by Iván Fischer.
Anna-Lena Elbert is especially passionate about Early Music, and received vital impetus from Christine Schornsheim, Kristin von der Goltz and Friederike Heumann. As a sought-after performer of J.S. Bach and G.F. Händel, she has sung at the Bachfest Leipzig, the Bachfest Schaffhausen and the Händelhaus Halle and worked with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and the Windsbach Boys’ Choir. In 2024, she performed Bach's St Matthew Passionwith Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Bruges along with the MüPa Budapest. She also closely collaborates with Johanna Soller, with whom she is working on the complete recording of Johann Ludwig Bach's cantatas. She also dedicates herself to the repertoire of Mozart, Mendelssohn and Haydn and recorded Haydn's Seven Last Words on CD under the direction of Frieder Bernius. She was a scholarship holder of the MozartLabor at the Mozartfest Würzburg and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
In the season 2026/27, Anna-Lena Elbert will make her debut with the Wiener Symphoniker under the baton of Alessandro de Marchi singing Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at the Wiener Konzerthaus and with the Freiburger BarockConsort performing baroque arias at the Berliner Philharmonie, Stuttgarter Liederhalle and at the Konzerthaus Freiburg among other concerts.
